Brigstowe Media is owned and run by Richard Drew. Richard has decades of experience in the world of broadcasting as a presenter, commentator and journalist. The company also has several years experience of publishing hyper-local newspapers.
High profile, live broadcasting is Richard’s speciality. He has commentated at both summer and winter Olympic Games, the Commonwealth Games, Youth Olympics, Asian Games and European Games.
He’s covered a wide range of winter sports, with both Eurosport and the Ski Classics series. He’s currently the commentator for the ISSF (shooting) at world events. Richard has presented and commentated on ATP and grand slam tennis as well as a variety of football commentary (including the Champions League, Europa League, Premier League and Eredivisie).
On television, in Asia, Richard presented Premiership football, Champions League and Formula One to audiences in excess of 100 million people for ESPN and Star Sports. He also worked in the Middle East for broadcasters such as Al Jazeera, Showtime and Ten Sports.
Brigstowe Media reflects Richard’s West Country roots - Brigstowe is the old Saxon name for Bristol, (which means ‘place by the bridge’). But despite being a proud Bristolian, he’s never happier than when discovering another part of the world whilst on assignment.
Commentator
There’s nothing quite like the adrenaline rush of commentating on live sport. Richard may have been in the business for many years, but that feeling doesn’t go away. Whatever the sport, wherever it’s happening, he’s always excited to see the drama unfold. From a beginning covering football for local radio, he now has the pleasure of travelling the world to have a ringside seat at major events.
Presenter
Richard is a very experienced presenter, be it in the studio or on location. Sport is the main focus, having covered everything from Formula One to top flight football and grand slam tennis - and much else beside. Live or recorded, with or without autocue, Richard loves the challenge. His TV work has been forged on a solid foundation in radio, a medium he still loves.
Journalist
Richard was trained as a journalist by the BBC and has enjoyed writing for publications even as his career has concentrated on broadcasting. Newspaper columns, motoring, feature and travel writing are just some of the areas Richard has covered with his offbeat take on the world.
Publishing
Brigstowe Media is the publisher of three hyper-local, monthly free newspapers, serving distinct communities in South Gloucestershire, to the north of Bristol. Investment in journalism means that the Voice papers have become an essential part of the community.
